There have been five burglaries in five days. All of them at churches. Mount Olive, Bethany Baptist, Saint Mark's, New Hope Community and Saint Agnes Church were all broken in within the last week.
In each case the church was forcibly entered and money or property was taken.
An alarm also went off at Highland Community Church in Weston. But when law enforcement arrived, there were no signs of forced entry and nothing had been taken.
Because the burglaries happened in such a short span of time, several local departments are working on the investigation, including Everest Metro Police Department, Rothschild Police Department and the Marathon County Sheriff's Department.
Each department is hoping to catch the individual or individuals responsible.
If you're worried about you're church, there are things you can do such as make sure all money is deposited, doors and windows are locked, lights are on, and an alarm is never a bad idea. Police also say neighbors should be vigilant and if you see anything suspicious, report it.
