MEXICO CITY -- A moderately powerful earthquake has shaken the Mexico-Guatemala border region, but there are no reports of damage.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the 7:22 a.m. (8:22 a.m. EDT; 1222 GMT) quake had a magnitude of 6.0. Mexico's seismology service calculates it at 5.7.
The quake was just a few miles off the coast at the border, with a depth of 22 miles (35.5 kilometers).
Chiapas state civil defense spokesman Jose Manuel Aragon says there are no reports of damage.
