Rowan Joffe has been tapped to write HBO?s untitled WikiLeaks movie, while Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall have boarded the project as executive producers.
A co-production with the BBC, the project will focus on WikiLeaks and founder Julian Assange, who in November published classified U.S. State Department diplomatic cables.
The project is being directed by Inside Job helmer Charles Ferguson, who will produce with Audrey Marrs if the production gets the green light. Kennedy and Marshall join Joshua Maurer, Alixandre Witlin and David Stern as executive producers.
Joffe (The American, 28 Weeks Later) is repped by CAA and Curtis Brown Group; Kennedy and Marshall (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) are repped by UTA. ?
Two feature films about Assange also are in the works, at DreamWorks and Universal.
